Keynote Address by Martin Dowling, author of Traditional Music and Irish Society: Historical Perspectives (Ashgate 2014), renowned traditional fiddle player and former Senior Lecturer in Music at Queen’s University, Belfast.

We are looking forward to this year’s conference, taking place for the first time in St. Patrick’s College, Dublin. In this year especially, the theme of Music and Commemoration has been very resonant and we are looking forward to the varying papers on this topic as well as those spanning Ritual studies, Festival and Parading, Nationalism and Historical Ethnomusicology amongst others. Our presenters this year include well-established Irish and International academics as well as postgraduates and early career researchers.
