Call for Papers: The 4th International Workshop on Folk Music Analysis

The 4th International Workshop on Folk Music Analysis will take place in Istanbul, Turkey, June 12 and 13, 2014.

The workshop has a central goal to foster the application of computational analysis in (ethno)musicology. The two main reasons that motivate us to organize this series of workshops are, firstly, to indicate more systematic approaches to (ethno)musicology that can enrich the research in this field. And, secondly, we want to draw the attention of researchers in Music Information Retrieval (MIR) towards the analysis of musical styles that so far were not in the focus of MIR research. During this workshop, we provide an opportunity for debate regarding future directions in the field of computational (ethno)musicology, and provide an interdisciplinary platform to present our work to interested researchers and musicians.

Authors are kindly invited to submit an extended abstract (max. 1000 words or 2 pages in 12 point font). Additional pages may be added for references. The extended abstracts will be peer reviewed. Authors of accepted abstracts have the opportunity to contribute a full paper. After the workshop, the peer-reviewed abstracts and the full papers will be published on-line. The language of the workshop is English. There is no limit on the number of abstracts that may be submitted by a single researcher, and abstracts do not need to be anonymized for blind review. Further instructions for submission can be found at here.
