Helen Gubbins

Helen Gubbins is a Ph.D. researcher in Ethnomusicology at The University of Sheffield, under the supervision of Dr. Simon Keegan-Phipps. Her current research continues her drive to investigate the mediation of music in radio broadcasting by exploring music programming in RTÉ radio c.1970-1994, and is fully funded by a University of Sheffield Doctoral Academy Scholarship. She holds a BA(Mus) and MPhil from University College Cork and a MMus from University College Dublin. She performs Irish traditional and Javanese gamelan music regularly (though not as regularly as she would like!). She is currently Deputy Chair of the MeCCSA Radio Studies Network.
