Rebecca Uberoi is an Irish Research Council-funded PhD student in the School of Music, University College Dublin. She completed her undergraduate degree in music at City University London in 1996, followed by a year studying traditional Sundanese music in West Java. After thirteen years of instrumental and classroom music teaching, she returned to ethnomusicology and graduated with an MMus from UCD in 2012. Rebecca’s research interests include Christian congregational music and music’s intersections with religion, identity and migration. For her doctorate she has undertaken fieldwork in a Nigerian Pentecostal church in Dublin, exploring how members negotiate their various identities within the context of migration.
